Summer Solstice Sheds New Light On Celebrity SolsticeSM
MIAMI - June 18, 2007 - Celebrity Cruises is beaming about the approach of summer solstice. The term for the longest day and shortest night of the year, summer solstice traditionally marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, but at Celebrity Cruises, it also marks the opening of bookings for Celebrity SolsticeSM, the top-rated premium cruise line's first new ship since 2002.
Bookings for Celebrity Solstice will open exclusively for members of Celebrity's loyalty program, "Captain's Club," on June 21, the date of this year's summer solstice. Beginning July 5, all other cruise enthusiasts are welcome to book a Celebrity Solstice vacation. "We are thrilled with the early interest and enthusiasm we're receiving from our guests and travel partners about Celebrity Solstice," said Celebrity's President Dan Hanrahan. "As a special gesture of appreciation to our loyal Captain's Club members, we're pleased to offer them the first opportunity to set sail in the ship's inaugural season."
Celebrity Solstice will offer the extraordinary service and dining experience the brand is known for providing, along with a variety of compelling new features that will be revealed over time.
One of those features is the line's new AquaClassSM category of veranda accommodations expressly designed for spa enthusiasts. Guests booked in AquaClass will receive unlimited access to Celebrity Solstice's new AquaSpa relaxation room and the Persian Garden, an exotic aromatherapy and steam room, as well as exclusive, complimentary dining in Blu, an intimate, 130-seat specialty restaurant whose design is likely to be as inviting as the cuisine.
AquaClassSM will comprise 130 of the ship's 1,425 staterooms. A full 85 percent of all staterooms onboard Celebrity Solstice will have verandas, and all staterooms will be equipped with flat-screen TVs, smarter storage and closet space, spacious bathrooms, and plush European bedding. The ship will offer wireless Internet access throughout.
Following several weeks of inaugural activities, Celebrity Solstice will make its maiden voyage December 14, 2008, on a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico; Basseterre, St. Kitts; and Philipsburg, St. Maarten. The itinerary will be offered on Sundays through April 5, 2009, with an alternating itinerary calling on San Juan, Puerto Rico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Tortola, B.V.I.; and Labadee, Haiti, through April 12, 2009. Fares for veranda staterooms begin at $1,099 per person, based on double occupancy.
Celebrity SolsticeSM will be the line's first in a class of four 2,850-guest vessels with an exceptional range of guest-inspired services and amenities. German shipbuilder Meyer Werft is building the 122,000-ton vessels. Meyer Werft also built the line's Century-class fleet: Celebrity Century, Celebrity Mercury, and Celebrity Galaxy.
Celebrity Cruises offers comfortably sophisticated, upscale cruise experiences with highly personalized service, exceptional dining, and extraordinary attention to detail. Celebrity sails in Alaska, California, the Caribbean, Europe, Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal and South America, and will begin sailing in Australia and New Zealand in November. | QE2 To Leave Cunard Fleet And Be Sold To Dubai World To Begin A New Life At The Palm June 18, 2007 - Cunard Line today announced the sale of QE2 to Dubai World, in a US$100 million deal which will turn the iconic liner into a first-class tourism destination at The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai.
QE2 will be delivered to Dubai World in November 2008, where she will cease her role as an ocean-going passenger vessel and be refurbished and adapted for her new home. From 2009, the vessel will be berthed at a specially-constructed pier to create a luxury floating hotel, retail and entertainment destination at The Palm Jumeirah, the world's largest man-made island.
The ship, which was launched by Her Majesty The Queen in September 1967, 40 years ago this year, is the longest-serving ship in Cunard's 168-year history, and was their longest-serving flagship. Since she came into service in 1969, she has undertaken 25 world cruises, has crossed the Atlantic more than 800 times and has carried more than 2.5 million passengers.
QE2 has been purchased by Istithmar, the investment arm of Dubai World, a wholly owned company of the Government of Dubai. Nakheel, developer of The Palm Jumeirah, is also a Dubai World company.
Carol Marlow, president and managing director of Cunard, said:
"We are delighted that when her legendary career as an ocean liner ends there will continue to be a permanent home for her that will enable future generations to continue to experience fully both the ship and her history."
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of Dubai World, said:
"QE2 is without a doubt one of the wonders of the maritime world, and is easily the most famous serving liner in the world today. I am delighted we will be able to create a home for her on the newest wonder of the world, The Palm Jumeirah."
"QE2 at The Palm Jumeirah will become one of the must-see experiences of Dubai and of the Middle East. We are investing in creating a truly global tourism destination."
"Dubai is a maritime nation and we understand the rich heritage of QE2. She is coming to a home where she will be cherished."
Istithmar said its refurbishment programme will aim to recreate QE2's original interior décor and fittings. QE2 at The Palm Jumeirah will also include a museum celebrating the rich history of the ship.
| SeaDream Yacht Club scores Top Service Award Three Years in a Row Highly Acclaimed SeaDream Yacht Club has scored a big one in yet another authoritative travel industry poll.
Travel + Leisure Magazine's 2006 World’s Best Award Readers Survey, just released in the publication's June issue, rated SeaDream higher than any other passenger shipping company for that all important Wow Factor---Service!
This is not the first time SeaDream has hit the top for Service in Travel + Leisure. For the last two years SeaDream topped all others for Service as well. SeaDream was also rated among the top 10 small cruise lines in this new Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards. And in March this year it was listed by the magazine as one of the World's Top 100 Travel Experiences.
The Travel + Leisure World's Best Readers Survey not only rates cruise lines, but also cities, islands, hotels, airlines, tour companies, spas and car rental agencies.
Travel + Leisure Editor-in-Chief Nancy Novogrod called the Awards Ratings “a powerful gauge of the interests and tastes of sophisticated travelers.”
SeaDream's President & CEO Larry Pimentel, justifiably proud, said “I'm always delighted when we receive such accolades, but I want to add that there are some truly fine travel choices at this luxury end of the spectrum. The fact is, all of the passenger shipping operations included in Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards are extremely good.
“Happily, what I can always say with confidence is that SeaDream is not only an extremely fine leisure travel choice on a good-better-best scale, but it is unique.
SeaDream is simply a different product--- I put the emphasis on the word different---in what is frequently acknowledged by travel industry observers as a sea of sameness,” he stated.

| Regent Seven Seas Cruises Adds Four New Antarctica Departures Fort Lauderdale - June 13, 2007 - Regent Seven Seas CruisesSM, the world's largest luxury cruise line, has added four new Antarctica cruises in late 2007 and early 2008 due to overwhelming demand. These new cruise dates offer guests a rare opportunity to experience the stark beauty and abundant wildlife of the White Continent amid the comfort of the world's top-rated expedition cruise ship, Explorer II.
"We have seen such a strong demand for Antarctica as a destination that our initial two charters quickly sold out," said Mark Conroy, Regent's president. "So we are pleased to have secured some group space to be able to offer our guests additional opportunities to visit this rarely seen part of the world."
Guests yearning to explore the largely unknown continent of Antarctica can choose from four new departure dates - November 8 and 24, December 20, 2007; and February 25, 2008. Each of these 10- or 16-night cruises will depart from the world's southernmost city and capital of Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia, Argentina, also known as "the end of the world." (These dates will be offered in addition to the already sold-out departures on January 21, 2008 and February 1, 2008.)
Explorer II will then cross the Atlantic to the wildlife-rich shores of the Falkland Islands, where guests can explore the photogenic British outpost of Port Stanley, followed by the dramatic glacial coastline of the South Shetland Islands and the mountainous peaks of the Antarctic Peninsula. Guests can be among the very few to step foot on Antarctica and explore, weather permitting. Explorer II then sails along Cape Horn, located at the confluence of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, before moving onward through Drake Passage and returning to Ushuaia. The extended 16-night cruises also include a call at South Georgia, featuring large colonies of king penguins, fur and elephant seals.
These four new cruises will take place during Antarctica's spring and summer seasons, which bring milder temperatures, longer days and unrivaled wildlife viewing including the famous shoreline gatherings of thousands of penguins. Guests may also see seal pups and parents, whales, blooming snow algae, albatross and other seabirds, and spectacular glaciers and icebergs. Explorer II's team of naturalists, historians, marine biologists, geologists, and ornithologists will add immeasurably to guests' adventures in these pristine realms. An onboard enrichment program hosted by a professional photographer will include group discussions and tips on how best to capture these wildlife sightings on camera.
Though a range of shore excursions can accommodate more adventurous travelers, the state-of-the-art Explorer II provide guests a way to experience the beauty of Antarctica in stylish comfort, and its small size and maneuverability brings guests face-to-face with each of the sites. Recently rated among the world's top small cruise ships by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, Explorer II features a polished brass and wood interior with all ocean-view suites and staterooms, two open-seating restaurants, a full-service health club and a salon. Although the ship is designed to accommodate up to 394 passengers, space is limited aboard these cruises to 198 guests for maximum comfort. The vessel's expedition team of highly trained naturalists and biologists, along with the high crew-to-guest ratio of 1 to 1.5, ensures the ultimate relaxing and enriching voyage.
Per person prices for Regent's Antarctica cruises start from $9,795 for the 10-night voyages, including a one-night pre-cruise stay in Santiago (Chile); complimentary roundtrip economy air from one of Regent's 86 North American gateways, round-trip charter flights from Santiago to Ushuaia; a city tour and Patagonian lunch on day of embarkation in Ushuaia; and a complimentary backpack and parka. As with all Regent Seven Seas cruises, fares include all shipboard gratuities; complimentary beverages, including select wines and spirits served throughout the ship; and a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, beer and bottled water replenished daily in higher stateroom categories.
Through The Regent Travel ConciergeSM, guests may select from a variety of exciting pre- and post-cruise land adventures, from horseback riding in Ushuaia to a guided walking tour of the city's Tierra del Fuego National Park, including a trek across the border to Chile.

| Carnival Splendor's Decor to Celebrate Splendid Things MIAMI (June 18, 2007) — The name of Carnival Cruise Lines' next new ship and its interior design complement each other perfectly; the central design idea of the line's new 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor — set to debut in July 2008 — is “Splendid Things,” a celebration of the magnificent, lustrous and elegant.
The 113,300-ton Carnival Splendor is a new class of vessel for Carnival, with a number of innovative new features, including a luxurious 21,000-square-foot spa -- the largest in the “Fun Ship” fleet. Carnival Splendor is scheduled to launch Carnival's first-ever northern European cruise program July 13, 2008.
“When I thought about the name of this ship, it brought to mind all the splendid things there are in the world,” said Joe Farcus, Carnival's ship architect. “The central idea that ties the rooms together is the concept of fine, luxurious, sumptuous elegance. So we used elements like pearls, gold leaf and wood grains to give the ship a feeling of richness,” he added.
That Splendid Look
The center of it all is the Splendor Atrium, which Farcus describes as “pure design.” The walls are decorated with a composite material made of stainless steel and four-inch circular cutouts backed by pink-stained wood with black pigment rubbed into the grain, along with gold-leaf beams and arches illuminated with hundreds of sparkling lights.
The atrium balcony and main staircases carry on the stainless steel motif with railings that have a circular textured glass infill with orange and red glass jewels fused on and topped by a pink-and-black-grained wood handrail. The common areas — elevator lobbies, stairwells and promenade — have the stainless steel, gold leaf and wood elements adapted to the location.
“The overall effect is striking,” said Farcus, “with all these rich, elegant materials mixed with stainless steel and stylized wood laminates.”
Creating New Spaces
The central Lido pool deck features a large open glass-walled, two-deck-high area that can be enclosed with a retractable Sky Dome, along with two hot tubs repositioned on either side of the deck and inset into the deck to provide unobstructed sea views. Also featured within this dramatic space is “Carnival's Seaside Theatre” with its 270-square-foot outdoor screen, along with two bars and two food-service lines.
“With the addition of the Sky Dome, the mid-ship pool area becomes another public room, not just a pool deck,” said Farcus. “Decorated with plants, it can become quite an attractive room for gatherings of all types and will be the largest public room on any Carnival ship.”
Located above the two-level, art deco–styled Splendido poolside eatery is the Pinnacle Supper Club. A skylight provides spectacular nighttime views of the stars for supper club diners, while a glass dance floor suspended over the mini-atrium created by the three-deck configuration is sure to be a conversation starter.
Carnival Splendor's aft pool deck will be an airy and open space and in the tradition of the grand liners, will provide guests with unimpeded views of the ship's wake.
The outdoor aft deck area will pay homage to the great liners of the past. The walls will be beautiful teak molded paneling while the bars and serving lines will recall the hulls of these ships. Throughout the area will be large half models of some of the most famous ships that sailed the oceans of the world. The aft deck will also house two serving stations – one featuring authentic Indian Tandoori items and the other a New York-style deli offering sandwiches and traditional side dishes.
Also located within the Lido Deck area is an expansive two-level, 5,500-square-foot children's play area which will serve as the focal point for the extensive activities schedule for the line’s top-rated “Camp Carnival” program. Sure to be a hit with kids of all ages is a new feature for Carnival – a water spray park – located just above the main playroom with a private secured stairway leading to the facility.
Carnival Splendor will also house one of the largest health and wellness facilities afloat featuring 68 spa cabins and suites – a first for the line.
Including the exclusive spa accommodations, the Carnival Splendor’s spa will encompass some 40,000 square feet and will include Carnival’s first thalassotherapy pool covered by a glass dome, an elaborate Thermal Suite, 17 treatment rooms; and indoor and outdoor relaxation areas.
Distinctive Public Rooms
As he has done with every ship in Carnival’s fleet, Joe Farcus has designed the main public rooms on Carnival Splendor in a variety of whimsical and inventive themes.
The Royal Flush Casino takes a “splendid, winning hand” as its principal design element. Various combinations of royal flush hands are set along the walls, with the characters on the cards emerging from the wall like a sculpture. The ceiling is decorated with card images that gradually change electronically into different hands.
Splendor Spectacular, the main show lounge, features sparkly fiberglass stage curtains all around the room. “The idea is that the whole room is the stage,” Farcus explained. Large chandeliers are draped domes with strings of beads hanging down, creating a dramatic effect.
The Red Carpet dance club turns every guest into a celebrity as they walk the VIP line past a series of mannequins waiting in line on the other side of the velvet rope to enter. Once inside, a wall of images of reporters and paparazzi — complete with camera flashes — greet would-be revelers.
The El Mojito promenade bar has the feel of a sidewalk café in Old Havana, with Spanish-style columns topped with domes and classic lanterns hung throughout the room, along with terracotta floors and the aged stucco walls festooned with colorful Cuban posters.
The Cool jazz bar taps into the legendary coolness of jazz greats. The walls are decorated with artwork inspired by jazz innovator Miles Davis, with photos of the trumpeter and sheet music of his compositions.
El Morocco, the aft lounge, re-creates the famous 1930s New York club of the same name. Banquettes are covered in zebra-patterned leather, with palm trees and lanterns adorning the walls, which feature murals of Moroccan scenes.
Our House sports bar celebrates a team's home field advantage, with models of famous stadiums displayed in glass vitrines located around the room, accented by red, white and blue bunting. Bar tops and tabletops are inlaid with photos of famous sports stadiums.
The California Roll sushi bar sports large models of koi goldfish in iridescent paints. The bar front is river rock, and all tile work on the walls and surfaces is made of natural mother of pearl shells.
Exciting and Varied Itineraries
Carnival Splendor is slated to debut July 13, 2008, with a series of 12-day Northern Europe cruises from London (Dover) through Aug. 30, followed by a schedule of 12-day Mediterranean cruises from Rome (Civitavecchia) through Oct. 17, 2008.
The ship will then sail on a trans-Atlantic crossing departing Rome (Civitavecchia) Oct. 29 and arriving Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Nov. 14, positioning the vessel for a series of seven-day exotic Caribbean cruises from that port beginning Nov. 22, 2008. Carnival Splendor will then reposition to Long Beach, Calif., to launch year-round seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises, continuing the line's expansion of its West Coast operations.
| Largest 'Fun Ship' Ever Constructed, 3,006-Passenger Carnival Splendor, To Operate Seven-Day Mexican Riviera Cruises Beginning in March 2009 MIAMI (June 13, 2007) – Carnival Cruise Lines' 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor – the largest "Fun Ship" ever constructed – will launch year-round seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach, Calif., beginning in March 2009, following its inaugural schedule of European and Caribbean voyages.
The Carnival Splendor will further bolster the line's dominant position as cruise industry leader in Southern California, which is currently home to four Carnival ships. With the arrival of Carnival Splendor, the line expects to carry approximately 650,000 guests annually on these highly popular West Coast cruises -- almost twice the number of any other cruise line.
Carnival is the only cruise line to feature three ships offering year-round cruises from Southern California – two from Long Beach and one from San Diego -- as well as a fourth ship sailing seasonally from San Diego. In addition, Carnival offers the widest available choice of cruise lengths – ranging from three to eight days -- with visits to exciting ports in Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera.
A new class of “Fun Ship,” the 113,300-ton Carnival Splendor will introduce a host of innovations, highlighted by a luxurious 21,000-square-foot health and fitness facility surrounded by 68 exclusive spa staterooms and suites – a first for the line.
“With its vast array of on-board facilities and features, including the most elaborate and magnificent spa ever introduced on a Carnival ship, Carnival Splendor will usher in an exciting new era in ‘Fun Ship’ vacations and provide a fresh and exciting West Coast cruise option,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.
Attractive Seven-Day Mexican Riviera Itinerary
Carnival Splendor will offer an unmatched Mexican Riviera cruise vacation experience when it launches year-round seven-day service from Long Beach March 29, 2009. Ports of call include three popular seaside towns: Puerto Vallarta, which dazzles visitors with its gorgeous beaches, crystal-clear waters and lush countryside; Mazatlan, which, in addition to excellent beaches, offers an abundance of dining and shopping options; and Cabo San Lucas, distinguished by its rugged rock formations and miles of white-sand beaches.
Fabulous pre- and post-cruise land stays, as well as myriad shore excursion opportunities – including snorkeling, canopy tours, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, golfing and off-road Jeep adventures – will also be offered in conjunction with these voyages.
Prior to year-round deployment to Long Beach, the new Carnival Splendor will start service on July 13, 2008 and introduce Carnival’s first 12-day Northern European cruise program, followed by a series of 12-day Mediterranean departures through Oct. 17, 2008. The ship will then sail on a transatlantic crossing from Rome (Civitavecchia) to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Oct. 29, continuing with a series of seven-day Caribbean voyages from that port beginning Nov. 22, 2008.
Host of On-Board Innovations
As the first in a new series of “Fun Ships,” Carnival Splendor will offer a variety of innovative facilities and features. These include an expansive, state-of-the-art health and fitness center spanning the forward portion of two full decks. Including the 68 spa staterooms and suites, the health and wellness center will encompass 40,000 total square feet and will include the line’s first thalassotherapy pool, an elaborate Thermal Suite, and 17 treatment rooms for administering a wide range of soothing therapies.
Building upon Carnival's distinction as the family cruise leader, Carnival Splendor's numerous family-friendly amenities will include a two-level 5,500-square-foot children’s play area – part of the line's top-rated “Camp Carnival” program, along with a water spray park on Lido Deck. An expansive teen club and full activity schedule, part of the line’s “Club O2” program, will also be offered.
Also new will be a sliding Sky Dome over the main pool area, which will house Carnival's Seaside Theatre -- a massive outdoor screen displaying movies, concerts and other programming.
Dining options will include twin two-level main dining rooms, a casual poolside eatery featuring a 24-hour pizzeria, deli, a traditional Indian Tandoori oven, an upscale seafood venue and numerous other choices, and an elegant reservations-only supper club offering prime quality beef and other gourmet cuisine.
The ship will also house 1,503 staterooms, including a wide variety of accommodation categories, including several levels of suites and staterooms with private balconies. All accommodations will feature the Carnival Comfort Bed sleep system with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high quality linens and pillows.

| NCL Corporation Announces Farewell Season of Marco Polo Miami - Jun 4, 2007 --- NCL Corporation ("NCL") today announced the sale of Marco Polo, from its Orient Lines brand effective March 23, 2008. Marco Polo is presently owned by Star Cruises along with two other mid-sized vessels also operated on charter by NCL, Norwegian Dream and Norwegian Majesty. "Marco Polo has an extremely loyal following and the Orient Lines brand is unique in what it offers," said Colin Veitch, president and CEO of NCL Corporation. "It has been an important part of our business during the transition from the old NCL to the new NCL with the youngest fleet in the industry by the end of this year. "We have said for the past two years that all of our older ships would progressively leave the fleet as our new, purpose-built Freestyle Cruising ships arrived. The timing of Marco Polo's departure always revolved around finding a good next owner, and I am pleased to say we have found one. This unique ship will, from the summer of 2008, have a new lease of life serving a new market under an established brand. The new owner will be announcing the acquisition very soon." Marco Polo's famously friendly and family-like Filipino crew will continue to delight Orient Lines guests through to the delivery of the ship to her new owner. After that, they will be welcomed into new opportunities within the rest of the NCL fleet. NCL will shortly announce details of a comprehensive on-board program for the farewell season of the Marco Polo. Marco Polo's final cruise will be the March 2, 2008 repositioning cruise from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon, Portugal. In the coming weeks, the hundreds of thousands of loyal Polo Club members who have sailed on Marco Polo over the years will be invited and enticed to come and enjoy her warm home-away-from-home atmosphere one last time. NCL Corporation Ltd. is an innovative cruise company headquartered in Miami, Florida, with a fleet of 14 ships in service and under construction. The 700-guest all-suite, all-balcony Seven Seas Mariner® will be the first and only ship in 2007 to call in Campbell River - the "Salmon Capital of the World" - which offers an intimate opportunity to experience British Columbia's unspoiled natural beauty and authentic Aboriginal culture.
"On behalf of the Campbell River Indian Band, I look forward to personally welcoming Seven Seas Mariner guests to our new cruise terminal, which will provide not only a valuable revenue stream for the Wei Wai Kum people, but also allow us to showcase our heritage to the world," said Robert Pollard, Chief of the Campbell River Indian Band.
To celebrate the port's inaugural call, the Wei Wai Kum Indian Band will host a full day of festivities on June 5 for guests aboard the Seven Seas Mariner, which will be in port from the afternoon until midnight. About the Campbell River Cruise Ship Terminal
The Wei Wai Kum Cruise Ship Terminal is an initiative of the Campbell River Indian Band and has been designed to reflect the rich architectural traditions of Canadian West Coast First Nations. In November 2005, Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) invested $3.2M in the construction of a cruise ship dock facility in Campbell River, BC. WD is now investing in the construction of the Campbell River Cruise Ship marketplace and staging area, which will be used to introduce visitors to Kwakuitl culture and traditions, provide retail space for aboriginal businesses and entrepreneurs catering to cruise ship passengers, and provide opportunities for visitors to purchase locally-made products including food, arts, crafts, and other retail goods. The cruise ship terminal project was the result of an unprecedented collaborative effort between all levels of government to diversify the economies of BC's coastal communities that have been severely damaged from the demise of the fishery and forestry industries, by assisting them to attract and expand B.C.'s cruise ship industry.
