Repositioning Cruises Provide Time to Relax

If you love long, lazy days at sea with plenty of time to enjoy all the amenities, entertainment venues and dining options of a cruise ship, a repositioning cruise might be for you.

Repositioning cruises are seasonal voyages that are used to relocate ships from one cruise region to another. For example, many ships that spend the summer months cruising Europe, Alaska or South America are repositioned to warm-water regions, such as the Caribbean or the Mexican Riviera, for the winter months. Rather than move empty ships, cruise lines offer these voyages to passengers as one-way cruises that provide the opportunity to touch two continents on one cruise.

Repositioning cruises usually take place during March and April, then again in October and November.  They are often two weeks or more in length, so they are good choices for travelers who are able to be away from their jobs or homes for an extended time.

Repositioning cruises are also suited to travelers who enjoy relaxed days at sea more than a port-intensive itinerary. Still, there’s little danger of being bored – repositioning cruises often celebrate a certain theme, present guest lecturers, or focus on onboard sports or gaming tournaments.

If this type of cruise appeals to you, your bank account may be in luck – repositioning cruises can provide very good value. When considering your options, remember that the amenities of the ship become very important on a cruise that includes an extended series of days at sea. To find out more about repositioning cruises and select one that is right for you, talk with our cruise experts.
